Virtual Vox Pop is a weekly open mic in which we ask you, the reader, to sound off on a particular topic. This week, it’s shocking video games. Left 4 Dead 2 and New Super Mario Bros. Wii have made big splashes over the last few days, but no game has been in the mouths [...]

As a hardcore Left4Dead player, it’s totally awesome to hear and see that an 8-bit version of Left4Dead is being created. Being created by Eric Ruth using Pixelforce NES, it will be available in January for zombie hunters as a free download onto their PCs. It features all the campaigns and characters from the original game and you’ll be able to play with more your friends as well as the game allows for more than one player.

Having your wedding invitation themed to an 8-bit game is awesome. Having it confirm that your marriage will result in lots of fighting (as truthfully many do these days) is hysterical. Of course, there is a while sacred institution that is marriage, but this is pretty cool. If you were getting married in something like 2nd Life or World of Warcraft this would also be appropriate.

It doesn’t have the sleek, polished designed of the GamePark GP2X Wiz, but the Neo Slim 3000 offers another choice to rebel gamers who like their portable media players mixed with a dash of illegal ROMz – – excuse me, homebrews. Regardless of their true intentions, those in the hunt for such a flexible device [...]

Though it looks more like an Atari game, the folks at HotBloodedGaming rigged up a video of what an A-Team game on the original Nintendo system might look like. Muddy 8-bit visuals, foul language, and plenty of fool-pitying ensues. In other words, we love it when a plan comes together.

What is it about great running backs who end their careers prematurely that makes us fans worship them as gods who’ve walked the earth only to return to the heavens from whence they’d came? Players such as Jim Brown (who dropped out of NHL High to take up the noble causes of social activism, bad [...]

Smoking is bad for you. It blackens the lungs and is the catalyst for all manner of nasty illnesses. If you’re intent on taking drags from cancer sticks, however, do it in style with these rather smooth Namco Bandai Zippo lighters. I have no hesitation in expressing my love/near-fanboy-level obsession with Technos’ family of rough and tumble titles. Check the company’s credentials: Crash N’ The Boys, Double Dragon, Renegade, River City Ransom, and many, many more. One of my favorites, which seems to only be remembered by retrogamers and grumpy old men like myself, is Super [...]
