Record of Agarest War: The Really Naughty Edition

Companies using boobs to sell goods is one of the oldest and most dependable forms of advertising. Depending on your stance on the issue, you’ll either drool over the assets on display, laugh at the ridiculousness of the situation, or wave an angry fist. But when you move the situation to the gamingverse, and replace real world women with anime-style characters, it becomes f’n awesome.

Game Boy tube dress lets you push your girl’s buttons (in a good way)

il fullxfull.117246571 Game Boy tube dress lets you push your girls buttons (in a good way)

Is you girl as cool as this? Methinks not.

Amber, a DIY Etsy seller, assembled this fine Game Boy tube dress that manages to deftly combine sexiness, style, and geekiness. Although currently sold out, this fine piece of gaming garb would look sway when kickin’ it at E3, the Nintendo World Store, PAX East, or any hip location of your choosing where you feel you have enough sack to pull it off (figuratively, that is).

This really couldn’t have been designed any better:  the color scheme, and display/button placement are dead-on. , Maybe if successful, Amber could possibly do a Game Boy Color,  Neo Geo Pocket Color, or PSP if her geek cred dips that deep.

tvc finalfob Review: Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All Stars (Wii)

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars, the latest in Capcom’s wacky-yet-honored Vs. series, arrives as the perfect palette cleanser between installments of the chess-like, rage-inducing Street Fighter IV. A terrific blend of fun and skill, giant robots, science ninja teams and war photographers duke it out in one of the Wii’s finest brawler since Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Will the Apple iPad change portable gaming?

apple iPad

Everything in the known universe is pointing toward the release of the much-rumored, much-talked about iPad during Apple’s press event tomorrow morning/afternoon. There’s been chatter of how this revolutionary portable computer will save the newspaper and magazine industries, change the way media is distributed, and give parents to lonely orphans, but oddly, there hasn’t been gaming talk, which is surprising considering the number of iPhone/iPod touch games are available in the App Store. Still, a few gaming journies have confessed that they’ve received invites to the big showcase, which hints that gaming will be a significant part of the iPad experience.

So as the Apple iPad is (hopefully) bring prepped for its world debut, take a look back at this article, penned just last month, which explains why I believe the Apple iPad will forever change the Apple video game experience and possibly threaten the big boys.

Agreed?

Digital Press store virtual boy

Joe Santulli’s Digital Press and I have a long history. Years ago, before I became a professional journalist, I reviewed an early Guilty Gear game for the popular website/message board, which I eventually used as a writing sample to land a job at the now defunct gadget lad mag, Sync. Five years later, I still visit Digit Press the website, but I’d never set foot in the retail outlet – - until very recently. Chris Gampat and I took a day trip to the store to finally checkout the near-legendary store that is a retro gamer’s heaven.

FreeStyle Street Basketball

JCE’s FreeStyle Street Basketball is one of those titles that you simply have to dive into to truly understand why I blew way too many hours of my holiday break glued to a PC. When I told my bud Terry Lewis, editor-in-chief of The Other View, that I was playing a cell-shaded, anime-styled MMO b-ball game, the first thing that came to his mind was a video game version of Slam Dunk. He would’ve been correct except that FreeStyle Street Basketball is incredibly enjoyable whereas the anime most definitely is not.

Virtual Vox Pop: Should Capcom abandon sprites in its future fighters?

Virtual Vox Pop is a weekly open mic in which we ask you, the reader, to sound off on a particular topic. This week, it’s Capcom’s stance on sprites.

Street Fighter IV is awesome fighter that brought hardcore fighting back to the mainstream. Tatsunoko vs. Capcom is a a damned fine fighting game that manages to capture the insanity of previous “Vs.” games while maintaining its own distinct feel. What do they have in common? They both feature sprite-less games that utilize 3D polygonal models on a 2D plane. 2.5D, if you will.

Review: Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes (DS)

Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes

Earlier this week I posted my first impressions of Ubisoft’s Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes, and after long hours of trial and error I’ve finally beaten the game. If you’re asking yourself if it gets that difficult to beat, the answer is yes.

I’d never expected to encounter such a high difficulty level on a Nintendo DSi game as the handheld seems like a platform best suited towards more causal fare. But don’t get me wrong, it’s quite the entertaining game, and perhaps mixes fun with the brain teaser puzzles better than most.
