Meridian Digital Entertainment has announced a sequel to its popular iPhone/iPod touch zombie-blaster Alive 4-ever with the appropriately named Alive 4-ever Returns. Although the gamplay video showcases the same muted and grimey videos as its predecessor (a positive, mind you), there are a number of new features under the hood that may make it a worthy upgrade to your mobile game library.

Alive 4-ever Returns features a new engine that enables the game to produce improved visuals, zooming, and environmental effects. Of course you can’t have a zombie game without a wicked arsenal. Alive 4-ever Returns features dual handguns, grenades , rocket launchers, and sticky bombs that will allow you to blow up zombies real nice like. The RPG elements in the original return, but now Meridian Digital Entertainment has added new undisclosed skills and powerups.

There’s a rather long-winded story attached, but, meh, grab your shotgun and go at it when the game goes on sale later this month.
