ken Capcom Bios Tatsunoku Fighters For Non Anime NerdsIt may be a pot-kettle-black situation for me to point fingers and giggle at the otaku who know the ins and outs of the anime fighters in Tatsunoku vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars when I can, unfortunately, give a detailed account of why Hokuto no Ken‘s Roah and Toki have a deep, life-long beef. I could attribute it to falling in love with Japan after a trip to Osaka two years ago, but the reality of the situation is that I’m a big ol’ nerd. I’m comfortable with that.

That said, not every Wii gamer hungry for a new 2D fighter will be able to identify the non-Capcom characters, so Kramez over at Capcom-Unity has launched a series of posts detailing the backgrounds and histories of the combatants in both camps. Today’s profiles? Gatchaman‘s Ken the Eagle and that walking enigma Ryu.

It’s a slick move on Capcom’s part to bio Tatsunoko’s cast of characters as they are great unknowns to the vast majority of the American gaming populace.  Except for Ken the Eagle, of course, who was the leader of the totally awesome (and totally mangled) USA version of Gatchaman, Battle of the Planets/G-Force (where he was known as Mark).  Cut to the video showcasing Ken/Mark defending Earth from evil alien attackers…from beyond space!
