Video games have come a long way since they debuted as the playthings of  ’70s-era nerds. The simple games of yesteryear that featured sprites barely resembling the items they represented (we’re looking squarely at you Atari Baseball)  have evolved into a mainstream phenomenon that rakes in billions per year and, at times, delivers Hollywood-like presentation. Video games are now everywhere: On your computer, in your browser, in you living room, on your cell phone, and in your city.

As such, it’s natural that video games — the pop culture phenomenon that they’ve become — should play vital roles in pop culture events. Video games are now a vital part of San Diego Comic Con and New York Comic Con. Video games have their own trade shows in E3, PAX, and PAX East. Video game even make a minor splash at the gadget and consumer tech powerful known as the Consumer Electronics Show. Video games are a deal. A big deal. And we’ll be there to cover them.
