Where to begin? Let’s take it from the top. I’m a female with strong devotion to gaming. I spend the majority of my time playing games or writing about them. If I’m not playing any of my consoles, I’m playing my handhelds. If I’m not playing my handhelds, I’m listening to podcasts.
My alter ego is a cross between Bayonetta and Elizabeth Comstock, sweet as a button with hair full of demons. I was an introvert in my younger years, one that sported Johnny the Homicidal Maniac shirts, Iron Maiden backpacks, and a wacky metal hair-do. After my lady parts settled in, I realized I was a girl and actually started dressing like one.
Growing up, my favorite games were Metroid, Legend of Zelda: Majoras Mask, Banjo Kazooie and Gauntlet. My love for role playing games as a teenager led to a love for Tales of Symphonia, Fatal Frame and the Persona games. In regards to the modern era, I have come to develop a strong affection for Fable, the Bioshock series, Mass Effect, the Atelier games, Heavy Rain and Dragon Age. Have I mentioned that I spent almost 200 hours playing Viva Pinata? Detailed games with mind blowing plot lines are fantastic, but every now and then I need to play my pointless grinding games as well. Something about them makes life just a little easier.
I had a few odd jobs through out high school until I eventually became employed with Gamestop working in the same district as 2D-X’s very own Tatjana Vejnovic! After three years of climbing the ladder to a management position, and working at over seven different locations, I left Gamestop with a better overall understanding of how video games work, which audiences they bring in, and an appreciation for the developers behind them. Not only did customers want to come to me to relate their needs (men and women alike), they came to me for advice and understanding for who they were and what they were all about.
After I departed Gamestop, I entered a Forensic Science Academy to study Crime Scene Investigation and interned at several different police departments. I enjoyed the life of a Justicar (Mass Effect reference), but something about the life wasn’t for me. As fascinated as I was with Death Investigation, Jiu Jitsu, Ballistics and Toxicology, I found myself with a stronger love for report writing.
Unfortunately, report writing in Crime Scene Investigation is rather dry, so I chose to combine my love for writing and video games instead. I left the academy with a certificate in Crime Scene Investigation and Firearms. Within the same year, I also achieved my Associates degree in Social and Behavioral Science at my local college. My next plan of action is to transfer to Cal State Northridge by the end of 2014 where I will obtain my Journalism degree with an emphasis in Communications.
I hope you got to know me a little better. If you enjoy reading my upcoming articles, let me know. I would love to chat and get to know all of you as well!
