Ghosts ‘N Goblins: Gold Knights Coming To iPhone and iPod touch

Odd, how all manner of horror-themed games are being released and/or announced in the days leading up to Halloween, idnit? If vampiric puzzle/strategy games aren’t your bag, perhaps Capcom’s announcement of a new Ghosts ‘N Goblins game, Ghosts ‘N Goblins: Gold Knights, is enough to get you in the mood for a cup of witches brew.
This action game designed exclusively for the iPhone and iPod touch puts players in the role of the legendary Arthur or impetuous Lancelot as they explore six stages of monster mayhem (with axes, swords, and other weapons found in treasure chests) in an attempt to recover missing maidens and learn the secret of the evil’s return to the realm.
New series features include:
- For the first time, play as two different heroes each with a unique play style.
- Master six different weapons per character and power up each weapon with magic.
- Further customize your Ghosts ‘N Goblins experience with DLC.
Although I’m totally digging the idea of a new Ghosts ‘N Goblins game, the screenshots just aren’t putting any starch in my noodle. The best games in the series feature lush, 2D graphics, but Gold Knights’ screens like a polygonal trainwreck worthy of an early PlayStation title – - a mess of angles and edges. Of course the fair and balanced saying would be that these screens are “early”, but the game is set to debut later this year. So, as with Bonk: Brink of Extinction, I’m taking the wait and see approach in hopes that gameplay can outshine the drab visuals.
