apv boss battle How To: Beat Shanks APV boss

[How To is a recurring feature in which we demonstrate techniques designed to improve your game, and make your skill set more than a little bit awesome. This time out, we’ll help you beat Shank's APV Boss on the train stage.]

Shank totes a nice stash of weaponry (knife, shotgun, grenades, pistols, and more), but even he faces challenging boss battle situations. One of the more annoying is the boss battle vs. the projectile weapons expert at the end of the train stage, but it’s not as difficult as it would initially appear. Here’s how to kick the APV Boss’ ass.

1. Dude with a grenade launcher will fire off a round of shots. Stay battling on the far left portion of the screen to avoid these relatively short-range attacks. Alternately, you can leap up to the top of the box car in order to avoid the grenades.

2. When he stops firing grenades, toss grendaes into the jeep to unleash big damage. If the jeep is slightly out of grenade range, hit them with your normal guns. It’ll do less damage, but some damage.

3. Next, one of the twerps in the jeep will whip out a rocket launcher. Unlike the grenades where you can watch their trajectories, the rockets fly upward and offscrren; you have to quickly react and dodge as they descend. These rockets have range across the entire level, so you have no place to hide. Stay alert.

4. Repeat step two until you wreck shop.
