According to a Facebook, Half-Life 2: Episode 3 might be right around the corner and announced for E3 2010. The rumored proof can be found on the Facebook page of René Alejandro Duarte Lagos. While there is no sign that Lagos is a developer, he does have a collection of Valve art. But there’s more.
The above artwork shows the game shifting areas to the arctic, though it isn’t exactly clear as to why. Most of the game has taken place so far in City 17—an area vaguely resembling Moscow. The game then shifted into the forests.
This teaser image was recently found. It has the iconic Lamba symbol, the word Freeman and the date June 10th underneath. Mess with the photo in photoshop or another program a bit and you’ll see a watermark of the G-man floating around. As a reminder and for reference, the lamba symbol is for the half-life project, Freeman is Gordon Freeman (the protagonist) and the G-man is the one that took Freeman away and is still a bit eerie and misunderstood. This piece of artwork was only recently found. Considering Valve’s history of game announcements, it makes sense that Half-Life 2: Episode 3 news could come through teaser artwork, or making their fans solve a puzzle of some sort. The company has been known for this. and it caused the Steam forums to go crazy recently with the announcement of Portal 2.
There are claims that it is a fake though. Most of the 2D-x crew will be at E3 to find out.
If the game is announced, we’ll hopefully see a newly revamped Source engine, and the storyline will make a large jump the way it did from the original Half-Life to the second one. To date, Half-Life 2 remains to be one of the best games I’ve ever played.
