Legacy Engineering introduces a new — no, wait — old way to play your favorite games on PC. Hearkening back to the days of Atari and Commodore 64, Legacy Engineering has launched USB-compatible joysticks based on the classic designs of the ’80s for this holiday season. Depending on how many USB ports your computer has you can connect up to four of these classic babies for some Gauntlet action.

Or whatever you want really. The Legacy Engineering website stresses the joysticks should work with almost any emulator. Moral feelings about emulators and ROMs optional.

“While these joystick controllers bring a lot of great game play value to video gamers, they are also very easy on the wallet too. With prices starting at only $16.99 these controllers will make great stocking stuffers, birthday gifts, or something special for under the tree for the fast approaching holidays,” says a spokesman from Legacy Engineering.

The joysticks are Windows Vista compatible, Mac OSX and even Linux-compatible, so all manner of gaming geek can get in on the action.

I would warn your readers that this is a possible scam. A quick google search will lead you to others who back up my claim, and to a long, questionable story about the inventor/manufacturer having some hard luck/illness problem.

They took my money, and I spent a year and a half hounding them. This was supposed to be an awesome xmas gift. I never received anything. I have since given up. In the meantime, I purchased a Atari joystick to USB converter, and have been happy with that.

I just did a search to see if there were any updates. I’m including the link from my results. It appears that ONE person received something, but it was not at all like what is posted on the site. It was an Atari joystick with a hard-wired ugly white cable. Anyway, I would at least let your readers know: caveat emptor.
