Married In Holy 8-bit Matrimony

Successfully walking down the isle is hard enough (unless you’re Pamela Anderson) but imagine having to stomp your way through waves of enemies and a barrel-throwing gorilla in order to reunite with your bride or groom to-be. If this sounds like a plot ripped straight from the Nintendo universe, it’s because it is.

While most couples send out boring paper invitations to their wedding guests, Niko Goldin and Darina Losse decided to take a different approach by turning their invite into a playable 8-bit adventure. Guests who play Darina & Niko’s Incredible Adventure can select their character, difficulty level and language of choice (English/German) before embarking on a Super Mario/Donkey Kong styled quest. Completing the game unlocks a screen with the wedding details followed by closing credits to finish it all off.

The adventure is available for free to download here so I won’t reveal much about the gameplay but if you’re not on the invite list you’ll be missing out on the sweet packaging and official manual that comes with it.

The real-life Goldin adventure launches in Berlin on May 21 of this year. Good luck from all of us here at 2D-X!
