Beyonder Jheri curls and white jumpers: Marvel making a Secret Wars game?

A few weeks ago, I went on a Twitter rant that detailed why–rather passionately–Capcom needed to include The Beyonder in Marvel vs. Capcom 3. It sparked a nice little back and forth between Twitters as we tried to determine if a god-like cosmic being could fit with the scopes of a fighting game. I supported The Beyonder’s inclusion because, well, the MvC series isn’t exactly known for precise balance.

Today, Siliconera reports that Marvel has filed a Secret Wars trademark in regard to video game-related product–the site even has a screenshot of the the filing. My initial thought was that this would relate to a Marvel vs. Capcom 3 DLC pack, but the trademark also covers sunglasses and cartridges, categories not at all associated with downloadable content.

Marvel, it appears, is plotting a standalone Secret Wars title.  Ultimate Alliance 3 set on Battleworld, or something else entirely?

If this game comes out Ultimate Alliance-style, I will flip fudge out, because already its sounding better than Ultimate Alliance 2.

I notice the “Attorney of Record” is Eli Bard…who is a fictional mutant hating character who antagonizes the X-Men and mutants in general…
