Ever thought Mega Man and Doom would go well together? Yeah, me neither, but Mike Hill, a 22-year-old diehard Doom fan from the UK, has a Mega Man mod for Doom 2 in the works. And it actually looks kind of promising.
“I’ve been modding for Doom ever since I first got a hold of the PC version … some may find it hard to believe that the Doom modding scene is still live and kicking after all these years,” Hill told Joystiq.
The mod, still in alpha stages, calls back a time that Hill feels when “Mega Man was in full fruition: on the NES,” using not just an 8-bit sprites for characters but for entire levels. Hill hopes that the mod will eventually contain all the levels and weapons from Mega Man 1–6, and possibly Mega Man 9.
Mike promises more levels and more weapons in 2010, as well as more stable gameplay. So, mod, Mike! Mod for everlasting peace!
