Ikaruga‘s console history is somewhat baffling. It first appeared on a system that suffered a premature death (Dreamcast), and then was ported to the decidedly non-hardcore “My First Console”  (Gamecube). Despite it’s dubious console track record, Ikaruga has a passionate base of hardcore shmup/shooter fans that are nutso-sick into the black vs. white color polarity gameplay.

If you’ve yet to sample the games rather unique engine, or just want to revisit a rather frustrating friend,  this is the week to give it ago. Ikaruga sees its normal 800 point price tag cut in half as it’s Microsoft’s Deal of the Week. Yes, you can toss your controller across the room for a measly $5. Good thing it’s wireless, no?
