Months ago, when the news initially broke regarding SNK Playmore’s decision to revamp its long-running King of the Fighters franchise with gorgeous, high-resolution graphics, fighting fans began salivating (heck, there’s still a puddle on my pillow).  Almost from the beginning, Ignition Entertainment (the company handling the publishing job stateside) began an interaction with the fans that’s nothing short of wonderful; an interaction that I wish more companies would adopt.

Hardcore types are notorious for wadding panties in regards to the tiniest of tiny minutea, so Ignition and SNK Playmore allowed the base to select its favorite box art for both the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 versions.

Following up on that fun, Ignition announced two new console-exclusive characters: Elizabeth Blanctorche  (who debuted in King of the Fighters XI) and Mature (Rugals’ secretary, as well as Vice’s lover – - at least in my yet-to-be-written fanfic).

Now, Ignition has launched the official King of the Fighters XII site where you can watch movies, stay on top of the latest news, download wallpaper, and even enter a fan art contest to win $1,000 and other cool prizes.

So to Ignition and SNK Playmore, a respectful tip of the hat for providing us diehards with niceties as a reward for supporting the franchise for 15 years, and (im)patiently awaiting the gorgeous  graphical overhaul.
