5th Cell’s Scribblenauts had quite the lofty intentions, even if its wings began to melt a bit as it approached the goal. Still, the revolutionary game in which the entire game world can be influenced by your jotted words, apparently was profitable enough to warrant a sequent after mixed reviews. Today, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment [...]

Remember when you were a young’un playing Rad Racer, Mario Kart, or (sigh!) Burnout how you’d tilt and rotate the controller as though the action would actually lean you into corners? It didn’t make logical sense as the d-pad or analog sticks controlled movement, but it just felt, so, so right. Nintendo, which has as [...]

Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing

When it comes to racing games, I like mine of the arcade variety. I don’t want to tinker with gears, I don’t want to worry about acquiring licenses; I simply want roaring engines, insane jumps, crazy power slides, wacky characters, and, if possible, inane weapons that you can use to take out cocky foes that think they have their positions on lock.

It may lack the mantacular Kevin Sorbo, but the Nintendo-published Glory of Heracles may be worth a look when it descends upon the Nintendo DS/DSi on January 18th. Penned by Kazushige Nojima of Final Fantasy fame, Glory of Heracles is a RPG based on Greek mythology. For those of you that have never seen Clash [...]

It’s not everyday that you’re in the running to receive a pig. Yet that’s exactly what you’ll have the chance to get if you pre-order Natsume’s latest Nintendo DS farming simulation/lovefest, Harvest Moon: Sunshine Islands, from Gamestop. Launching on November 10 for $29.99, Harvest Moon: Sunshine Islands reunites farmhands with all of the characters characters [...]

Scribblenauts is not a good game. The controls are absolutely maddening. All movement is controlled by the touch screen, and that wouldn’t be so bad if every other action in the game (save moving the camera) weren’t also controlled by the very same tiny surface. You combine these controls with a physics system that would [...]

Time Hollow is a story-driven point and tap style adventure along the lines of the cult classic like Phoenix Wright. In Time Hollow, players assume the identity of Ethan Kairos, a high school student whose parents disappear on his 17th birthday. Strangely enough it’s as though they never existed. After your parents’ disappearance, you come [...]

Say what you will about the general non-excitement of a series based on farming and agriculture, but Harvest Moon is one of the rare RPG franchises that actually garners my attention with each release. The fact that it’s decidedly non-swords/dragons/spells/grinding certainly helps, as that aspect of gaming has been beat to death with a dusty [...]

When you’re told that a game was crafted with the assistance of the scenario writer and composer of Chrono Trigger, your ears immediately perk up. That’s what happened to me at a recent Sega event. As I dug through my man-purse in the hunt for a pen to jot notes, Aaron Webber, assistant community manager [...]

Depending on when you entered the mortal realm, Sega’s Phantasy Star franchise will either evoke fond memories of a kick-ass multi-generational RPG, or a hack-and-slash action title with roleplaying elements. Phantasy Star Zero definitely caters to the second crowd. Sega held a particularly well-rounded showcase in NYC last week, and the 2D-X crew stopped by [...]
