Klei Entertainment’s beat ‘em up set the bar very, very high for the modern 2D beat ‘em up with a slick combination of silky HD graphics, loads of action, and lots of carnage.
The years havent’t been kind to Lara Croft. She exploded onto the scene during the mid-90s in Tomb Raider, dazzling fanboys with open world action, puzzles, and an awesome pair of pistols. Pistols. Developer Crystal Dynamics and publisher Square Enix hope to make her relevant again with Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light.
Shanked wowed at PAX East 2010, and did so once again at E3 2010. In a private booth above EA’s expansive floorspace, I was giving an opportunity to play nearly 10 minutes of Klei Entertainment’s lovingly crafted 2D beat ‘em up. Fresh to this build is a new stage and weapon. Check out the future of the 2D brawler and enjoy.
There’s just something that gets to you when you grab a guy, stick a knife into him and slam him over and over again. Speaking of which, Shank (the main character of the game) has knives, a chainsaw, guns, grenades and can get other weapons later on such as a shotgun (which we got to see a small glimpse of). You can do loads of things to your enemies, like grappling them, throwing them off buildings, and stringing together some of the most brutal combos seen in a 2D video game.
It’s finally here. After much waiting, the beloved 2004 freeware PC title Cave Story debuts on WiiWare for a 1,200 Wii Points. If you’ve been gaming from under a rock, Cave Story allows you to play as the amnesiac android Quote, who traverses an unknown land only to discover an evil plot that threatens rabbit-like [...]
It’s amazing what a little ingenuity, creativity, dedication, and love for old computers can do. It can inspire you to create melodic chiptunes, or, you know, connect to Twitter using a 30 year old personal computer. This Saturday, February 20th, the Personal Computer Museum will make PC history by connecting the Commodore VIC-20 to the [...]
When it comes to racing games, I like mine of the arcade variety. I don’t want to tinker with gears, I don’t want to worry about acquiring licenses; I simply want roaring engines, insane jumps, crazy power slides, wacky characters, and, if possible, inane weapons that you can use to take out cocky foes that think they have their positions on lock.
The single, most vital reason why I consider myself a console gamer more than a PC gamer is the relative stiffness of the experience. When playing games such as Dungeon Fighter Online, I’m in an upright chair, tapping away at a keyboard, while staring at a monitor. It’s very much like cubicle existence, and no [...]
While you’re waiting for Dark Void to come out, the developers would like you to try out this simple, standard and relatively fun version of the game that they call Jetpack Attack. You’re still playing as Will, the game’s protagonist but you’re basically using your jetpack to go around shooting baddies of all random sorts while collecting power-ups, destroying things, destroying more things and facing a giant mech boss that looks like something out of Star Wars. More after the jump.
Okay people, you need to go to thesmartass.info# click on game on the left hand side and enjoy the old school nerdiness that will be unleashed in front of you. I’m talking about hundreds, upon hundreds of them all. It’s been forever since I was able to play X-Men 2 Clone Wars. Now, I can spend forever trying to get past the first level on my Mac.
