Welcome back to the second installment of Talkin’ Shop. The first column came pre-PAX East, while this second one comes afterward. What a difference a few days can make when you’re surrounded in gaming bliss. If you have yet to experience the community and camaraderie that is PAX and PAX East, you’re truly missing out on one of the best nerd-centric weekends you’ll experience. Tatjana and I are already scoping out flights, hotels, and coverage plans — and media registration is still a ways off!
Speaking of Tatjana, 2D-X‘s fearless Managing Editor is poised to unleash her baby, a Q+A-style column appropriate titled “Ask Tatjana.” As the name implies, you can ask Ms. Vejnovic damn near anything nerd related, from her opinions on how the Mass Effect series should unfold to whether or not she suspects Pepper Potts will suit up in Iron Man 3. Leave your queries in the comment section below, in our Twitter Timeline, or in our Facebook feed. She awaits your Star Trek shipping questions.
But you don’t have to be Kirk or Spock to appreciate our upcoming Spread. We haven’t done a week-long theme since December’s All About SNK, so we’re a bit overdue. As such, the week of April 28th will be devoted to all things comics!
Initially, the idea was to cover the semi-abusive relationship between comics and video games to coincide with Marvel’s Iron Man 3 flick, but we quickly realized that comics are a large part of geek culture, too, and that there’s probably a big Venn diagram overlap between the two hobbies. 2D-X has some pretty dedicated comics readers on staff, so you can expect articles about four-color funnies themselves as well as their appearances in other media — including video games. So from late April forward, keep an eye on the Geek Culture section that lives just beneath the fold. Let us know what you think.
Finally, we’re thinking of organizing community game nights. Friday or Saturday nights, most likely. We’d love to mix it up with you, guys.
Injustice: Gods Among Us, anyone?
