Dreamcast portables seem to be the mod-du-jour lately. I don’t know if it’s because the console is so beloved, or if modders are simply super excited about the upcoming downloadable Dreamcast games.  Either way, there are a lot of them out there. And then, there’s this one.

I’m not tech enough to understand exactly how he did it, but I am able to appreciate how awesome it is: not only does it look like a portable system but it’s designed to actually work like one. An original Dreamcast control pad is on the front; triggers are on the back, along with a CD player for playing original discs. There’s an SD card slot in the front, too, just in case you wanted to play any games you might have stored elsewhere.

Builder Techknott says there’s 4500 mah of battery power under the hood, but he hasn’t told us how long those batteries last so playing on the go is still up in the air. Kudos, Techknott: third mod’s the charm. Check it out.

About - News and Culture Editor Laurie Vazquez really misses when all games were flat. Sure, she’s worked in television and veered off into film and television writing, but when she’s not whacking out scripts for contests (or, more likely, when she should be whacking them out) she fires up her beloved flat games. Take away her Nintendo, and she is a sad, sad girl. Just don’t take away her Futurama or her viola: that makes her mad.
