Team 2D-X
2D-X represents the very finest in 2D and 2.5D video game coverage, and has been a news source for high-profile online publications such as Capcom-Unity, Examiner, Google News, MMO Site, and Operation Sports. We’ve also provided in-depth content for traditionally non-gaming sites such as Wise Bread.
Team 2D-X was there when Pong broke onto the scene, Pac-Man chomped his way into the nation’s conscience, Sonic dashed into our hearts, and Street Fighter II: The World Warrior took the fighting genre to an unexpected level. In other words, we’re long time gaming geeks with a deep devotion to the 2D and 2.5D style of play. Read the 2D-X Manifesto.

Timothy Torres, Lead Reviewer
Timothy Torres is a jack…of a few trades. Besides maintaining his personal pop culture blog, Grump Factory, he regularly writes for comedy site Julius Bloop, draws comics, tickles the ivories, and even reads books without pictures on occasion. He also performs improv, and acts in his spare time. In his spare, spare time, he plays anything and everything with pixels and polygons, and writes about it.
Favorite Genres: FPS, RPGs, Action/Adventure
Favorite Games: Left 4 Dead, Super Mario World, Chrono Trigger, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Vagrant Story, Gears of War 2, Super Metroid
Fun Fact: Tim met film maker Uwe Bol and survived.
Thomas Rivas, Features Editor
Born in the Bronx and raised in Miami, Thomas Rivas has lived in almost every state at some point, so he’s decided to finally hang his hat where it all started. He’s a pretty big fan of comic book lore and some sci-fi, but anything with a great story catches his attention.
Favorite Games: The Kingdom Hearts series, Gears of War, God of War and any generally entertaining game that takes longer than just a few hours to beat.
Favorite Genres: Fighters, RPG, Action-Adventure, Strategy and FPS
Fun Fact: I died once. Gotta love Phoenix Down.
Laurie Vazquez, News and Culture Editor
Laurie Vazquez really misses when all games were flat. Sure, she’s worked in television and veered off into film and television writing, but when she’s not whacking out scripts for contests (or, more likely, when she should be whacking them out) she fires up her beloved flat games. Take away her Nintendo, and she is a sad, sad girl. Just don’t take away her Futurama or her viola: that makes her mad.
Favorite Genre: Adventure, RPGs
Favorite Games: Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Mystical Ninja – anything addictive with simple gameplay
Fun Fact: She can recite Cowboy Bebop by heart.
